Hello! I love books, and I love the Discovery Center, so this is Read a-Thon is a perfect event for me, especially because this event will give me a chance to express my gratitude to the Southern Tier community. This past year, with all of its challenges, has reminded me that good people really do make a difference. It has also reminded me of what is important. One day while weeding in The Story Garden, I re-read one of our laminated books called "If You Plant a Seed," by Kadir Nelson. It's a terrific story about planting seeds of kindness instead of seeds of selfishness. It's short and to the point and so true. SO -this book got me thinking about all the seeds of kindness that were planted during the past 12 months by YOU - the WONDERFUL PEOPLE of our community. Your support of The Discovery Center has made a world of difference to us. It seems like not a day goes by at The Discovery Center, or outside in The Story Garden, that I meet someone who says, "I just love this place" and "I can help you with that" or "How can I help this wonderful place?" I knew then that I wanted to read a second book, "I Can Help" by David Hyde Costello. Sometimes, we all need to be reminded that little acts of kindness go a very long way!" (Just like yours did last year!) Won't you help us again, by contributing to our Read a-Thon? That would be wonderful, and really really helpful!
