Discovery Center Read-A-Thon

Hi Friends, Family & Fellow Supporters - I am participating in The Discovery Center's Read-A-Thon fundraiser during this crucial time of financial needs for non-profits. The Discovery Center is near and dear to my heart as I spent seven years on the Board of Directors, a dozen years running certain fundraisers that due to COVID did not happen this year and also had the distinct honor of having three of my nieces and nephews go through their pre-school program. In addition, my other nieces and nephews were able to enjoy the museum and special events and my family took special pleasure in time spent shopping in the grocery store in the museum, climbing through the tunnels, playing in the water tables, forming bubbles that went higher than our heads and most special of all were the countless times we spent in The Story Garden. I am a "child-free" adult which is what a lot of us Board of Directors' members who did not have kids called ourselves because we loved it there so much and throughout most of my seven years on the Board at least half of the members had no children of their own. That is how special and important we consider this Children's Museum and its programming to be to our area. I am excited to participate in this unique fundraiser and please remember that I am not a school teacher or professional reader so I will do my best to entertain you with the books I chose that are special to me and will try to show the pictures as I go. I hope I entertain you and that you enjoy these books that I think are so much more than books for children and spoke to me during these trying times.
