I am part of a Read- A -Thon to benefit The Discovery Center!
As you already know, The Discovery Center is a very special place for me and for my family--and has been for many years. All of my children and grandchildren have sharpened their imaginations there, and loved every minute of "learning while playing." My daughters can claim that they were the original exhibit testers for each and every part of the original location! My husband, Jim, has built pieces of the exhibits inside, and contributed his beautiful metal art to the Story Garden. As for me, creating exhibits inside with the original Founders, and then working with The Garden Girls to create natural works of art outside have provided me with some of my most favorite memories.
What is a Read-a-Thon? It is like a marathon of reading! We ask you to provide monetary support to a reader—ME—so I can make my fundraising goal. Each reader not only fund-raises, we create of video of ourselves reading one or more of our favorite children's books. These videos will then be compiled and streamed on YouTube on July 18 as part of a virtual reading marathon to support The Discovery Center.
Now, because the Discovery Center has acute financial needs, due to the pandemic, I am happy to help however I can. So, I am reading two books; one is an old favorite--"Little Blue and Little Yellow"- and the other is a new title called "Listening with My Heart." Next, I am reaching out to YOU for your monetary support. Whether you can give $5 or $500, I am most grateful for your help. Thank you so very much!
